Author Guidelines
Submission Checklist for Authors
We only accept papers that fall under the science of International Relations. Please ensure your submission meets the following guidelines:
- Original Research:
- Your research must be original and not published elsewhere.
- The research topic must pertain to the field of International Relations or Global Security.
- We do not accept submissions that have been written by AI (or have AI as the primary author) or that have been substantially improved/altered by AI.
- Length and Structure:
- The paper should preferably be between 2,500 to 6,000 words in length.
- Include a title for your paper.
- Provide an abstract (maximum of 150 words). Note that your abstract will be published.
- Language and Format:
- The research must be translated into English by the author to avoid translation discrepancies.
- Ensure the paper is free of spelling and grammar errors.
- Properly format the research according to the latest version of APA format. Guidelines and sample papers can be found on the APA website.
- Credits and Citations:
- Credit all authors and contributors involved in the research.
- Appropriately credit all supporting research materials used.
- Contact Information:
- Provide an email address for publication, so readers can reach out to you about your submitted work.
- After submission, make sure you log into the system and check for messages. Please do not email us; use the message feature to speed up operations.
- Review and Submission:

All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process conducted by both qualified external reviewers and our Editorial Team. This ensures an objective evaluation and maintains academic rigor. The review panel includes experts in International Relations and Global Security, selected based on relevant expertise to the submission topic.
The review timeline varies depending on caseload, but typically it takes 2-4 months. We will notify authors through the submission system message feature regarding the decision and provide constructive feedback from reviewers.
- All submissions will be scanned for plagiarism.
- Ethical Considerations:
- Ensure your research adheres to ethical guidelines and standards in the field of International Relations.
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
- Submission System:
- Submit your manuscript through our online submission system. Follow the instructions provided for uploading your manuscript and any additional files.
Author Response and Publication Timeline:
- After submission, your work will undergo a rigorous peer-review process. Following the review, we will communicate the decision and any reviewer feedback through the message feature within the submission system.
Author Response Window:
- Authors will have two weeks to respond to the feedback and submit a revised manuscript. During this time, you are encouraged to carefully review the comments and address any concerns. Use the message feature to ask any clarifying questions about the reviewer feedback.
Publication Process:
- If we do not receive a response within two weeks, we will assume your acceptance of the reviewer feedback in cases where the feedback involves only minor edits, such as grammar corrections. We will then proceed with sending your manuscript to production.
Copyright Notice
Authors maintain the rights to their contributions, with the right to share their work in other formats, such as Google Scholar, Researchgate, and your publication references. Your submission to the Panoply Journal gives the Center for International Relations and International Security (CIRIS) consent to publish your work, in which cannot be unpublished or removed after the peer-review process has started (14 days).
CIRIS does not charge any fee's for submissions and publications, however we do use strict guidelines in order to ensure that the publication process operates smoothly for all those involved.
